Need light weight OS for p3

I need a Linux version to play audio files, videos and play presentations (.ppt). And have a browser to use an internal web page. IS their an available distro that is set this way? or should I use a xbunutu like system but install it with my needed programs only.

There aren't perfect solutions so I think any of this will need to be modified:
Damn Small Linux http://www.damnsmalllinux.org/
GeexBox: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GeeXboX
MythTV
But it's preferable to just install a regular OS and pick and choose programs to install.

Debian

A p3? Mandriva will fit this nicely as long as you don't enable 3D (I mean Compiz or Metisse). I ran Mandriva on a P2 350 not so long ago.

DSL and puppy are pretty light. Slackware is also light if you make the right decisions on what to install.

Absolutely. Many distros can be installed to be lightweight. I would look for one that allows you to choose a graphical environment like XFCE, Fluxbox or IceWM in the installer (specially if you are new to Linux). Avoid bigger ones like KDE and Gnome.

IMHO, Xu buntu is as light weight as Slakware, or better yet get FluxBox or window Maker!!

Doesn't xubuntu only come with XFCE while Slackware comes with Fluxbox, blackbox, windowmaker ...

Of course other distros will work too. Debian, Gentoo, etc.

You should probably go with something like slackware or dsl. To also keep with the lighweight feel of it you should use fluxbox.
