Need help with xine
I am still a linux newbie but figured out how to install xine using rpm's from the command line. I can't figure out to load files into it to play them. By accident I found I could play a dvd by clicking on nav which would load it. Also, after I put a dvd in it, I can't get it to eject. Pushing the eject button on my dvd drive does nothing, even though it works fine in windows.
Also, how do I make a shortcut to xine in my kde menu? I can't figure out where the rpm's installed the program. |
I have been playing around with it and I figured out how to play the files you want. I just changed the program you open certain files with to xine. It appears from inside the program xine itself there is no way to open a file. So I just click on the file in my kde.
So now I can play dvd's, xvid's, divx's, mpeg's, and avi's. The only thinkg I need to figure out now is how to make a shortcut to xine in my kde menu and my desktop. |
Hi jbeedham!!!
I've just replied another thread of yours up there that you might find interesting. I'm glad you are learning xine. To eject a cdrom, you could type: eject at the command line. If that does not work, it means you don't have the package eject or that a program is still holding use for the cd rom device. To mount a CD rom, if you don't have automount installed, you can type at the console: mount /mnt/cdrom Good luck |
