I'm looking for a Linux live CD that will let me scan for Viruses on a Windows XP system. The XP system in question has the "smash" trojan or worm along with others. I would love to be able to boot a CD with the latest virus/trojan/worm definitions on it and clean this computer up. So do any of you know what a good choice is?
ClamAV is good, but does have some trouble with some file types. It may be sufficient. The problem will be with any critical system files that have been infected. Your only choice will be to delete and replace them, since ClamAV doesn't disinfect. Still, this isn't much of a limitation. Its probably always wiser to replace a file with a known working file, rather than worry about repairing/disinfecting one.
He he he. I use Windows for games mostly. But this really isn't for my main PC it's for a repair job. I'm seriously thinking about dumping Windows altogether. I just wish Linux could run all the games and stuff
