Any solution to use codecs in OpenSUSE? I'm unable to play movies in Totem, and no MP3 in Banshee either

I read the tutorial od the OpenSUSE web site but it didn't help...

Set up the third party repositories and install mplayer and vlc. That works fine for me. There should be MP3-plugins as well.

Thanks, I can do that. I have never had a code problem with VLC and mplayer, but I'd like to use Totem and Banshee to watch videos and listen to music. Is there a way to use them with codecs? How could I do that?

Actually not even mplayer is working. When I launch a wmv file it reports:

Alright, maybe you need to tweak your settings a bit. Launch mplayer and right-click, then select Preferences. Try out the various options under the Video and Codec headings. Those can make a huge difference.

It also looks as if your mplayer doesn't have its fonts properly configured. This shouldn't stop the player from working but you'll get an annoying pop-up whenever you launch it. As a solution, you need to create a symlink from one of your fonts files to /home/username/.mplayer. I'm afraid I've forgotten the particulars but the information should be easy to hunt down using google.
