What distro are you using---eg in Debian/Ubuntu, you may find a package on the net.
or search pbone, rpmfind, etc. for .rpm files
Most downloads should have some kind of read-me file to help you. If we know what form the download is in, then we can help too. First, uncompress and untar, and see what you have. If you have .rpm files, then you're all set for just about any distro.
If there is an installer script, run that. If you have to compile, you will find files like makefile and configure (and README)
