What a shame and what a stupid newbie.
Now about GAIM. Can i using GAIM with proxy?
Why i always get error message:
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Access denied: proxy servers forbids port 5050 tunnelling
------------------------------------------------------------------------
I use proxy port 3128.
Anybody here can explain to me what's going on
and what i have to do so i can use proxy for GAIM.
And it will really helpfull if you can explain all technical aspects there.
thanks for answering.
I use a computer in my house as a part of Uni-LAN. For that i have a question.
What i have to do? ask administrator to allow port 5050 in Universität Server or
i must edit something in my computer. (In fstab or other).
Well, if i have to ask Admin in Universität server to allow port 5050... i think he won't allow that.
I had the same problem, with gaim on fedora core 2.
I installed latest version of gaim - http://gaim.sourceforge.net/downloads.php
gaim 1.2 at that time. my problem was solved.
used global proxy in gaim preferences, can be configured manually also.

are u sure that ur problem was solved after upgrading to gaim 1.2
u atleast need to allow port 5050 through proxy i think
"Access denied: proxy server forbids port 80 tunneling"
beacuse in gaim account settings file transfer was set to use port 80.
In gaim 1.1.2 also same port settings are there, but they are working fine.
I DID NOT get the tunneling error message!!
I did not ask my administrator to allow port 80.
