need fmp4 file information and player in ubuntu
 

I have a Samsung SMT-190DN/DK security system which has a Hard Drive recording videos from security cameras.

When I export video segments from the DVR system, it creates .fmp4 files.

Can anyone explain how I can play those .fmp4 files in linux?

I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 LTS on my toshiba laptop.

Any explanation in simple english about what exactly a .fmp4 file is or contains would be greatly appreciated.

i do not think i have seen or looked at any fmp4

but as i was installing smplayer it loaded 264 that is mp4 file type

you may try smplayer

type it in a terminal it tells you how to install it
