Need Downloading Program Recomendations

Hey everyone-

I'm looking at prospective webhosts and I want to see what really matters - how it can perform under pressure.

So I need a program that can basically swarm a site... download the site over and over and over again MANY MANY times (possibly multi-threaded) and see how it performs.

Does any such program exist? Thanks.

I don't really agree with your methods of testing, but here goes:
Code:
$  while [ 1 ]; do wget  -r foobar.com; done
Will continuously download all pages (-r = recursive) from foobar.com.

Really though, what you are describing is a DOS attack, and will get the operator of the sites in question pissed at you...

I realize that's it's similar to a DoS attack, however over here, I'm on dial-up.... so I can't do much damage.

I pretty much want to see how the server does allocating space, not a SYN flood :-P

Thank you for helping me!

Well hey, I'm not going to tell you what to do, I'm just saying...
Just seems a strange way to pick a web host
