Need coaching with RSync and cron configuration on Ubuntu
 

A while back I thought I set up cron and RSync to backup folders to an external drive. This was to be a one way copy operation, so that even if the source folder had files deleted they would still be on the target drive.

Currently, this is not happening.

So, what I need help with is identifying what IS happening, if anything, where the logs are, why it's not happening...

Then I will need some help Correcting the configuration.

Looking at my rsyncd.log file, I see my windows box has been doing it's rsync regularly, and everything is updated.

I set up the linux rsync through the Ubuntu QuickStart, but it doesn't seem to be running regularly.

So, perhaps I should just set up a standard cron job to rsync.

remove the --delete option from the cron job... see man rsync

man rsync
man 5 crontab
