Hi Frnds
Few days ago I have downloaded slackware linux. Now i want to install it. My question is how can i get a bootable floopy for installing slackware coz when i use RAWRITE or RAWRITENT it's asking Source image but i don't know what is the source image of slackware. And also I'm mentioning my PC's Configuration below So after viewing this can u tell me is this correct configuration for Installing Slackware 10.2 Linux :-
CPU - Intel P3 500 Mhz
Ram - 128MB
Hard Drive - 40 GB
OS - Duel boot (Windows XP Professional & Red Hat Linux 9)
Hi Uselpa
Thanx for quick reply and precious slack linux guide link . But I have one problem when i follow this guide to make bootable floopy of slackware linux i have got this following error:-
C:\>rawrite a: bare.i
'rawrite' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
Why it showing me this above error after giving RAWRITE command help me plz!!!
If you're running a Microsoft OS, you'll need to use the RAWRITE.EXE program, which is included in the distribution tree in the same directories as the floppy images
so you shouldn't be in C:\ but you must change to the directory where the rawrite program is (you didn't answer me if you have a CD or DVD drive).
If you don't, download it from here for example.
Hi Uselpa
Thanx again for ur help and ftp link I have solved my prob. Ya i have CD Drive But i downloaded it from BitTorrent(Via linuxquestion.org Download link).
I have one confusion when i was downloading Bit Torrent file of Slack I saw there iso images of slack which is divided in 3 files. My question is what is iso images and if i download it how can i decode it. I know this is not releated question for this forum but plz!!!
I started with slackware and 3 years later I am still using it, but it's one of the harder distros to get started on. I'm not recomending you don't use it, but just letting you know if you didn't already, you may want to try something else to start, but on the other hand, you will learn alot by using slackware too it just may be very frustrating at first.
Hi all
Thanx to everyone for thier presious suggestions Especially. Mr Uselpa for his continue assistance. And yes Mr kryptobs2000 yes i have seen Slackware is very different from other Distrobutions of Linux. But If a person is already familiar with linux envoirnment then it is less dificult for him.
Thanks again
Wishes for New year and Merry Christmas to you all in advance!!!
