nautilus configure


how can i configure nautilus not to open a new window every time i click on something? or alternatively (since i have many other gripes with nautilus) are there any more konqueror like (with a tree on the left, with up and back etc buttons) filesystem showing programs (what is their real name) for gnome out there?

Start up GConf editor / apps / nautilus / preferences / select always use browser.

thanks, that works. do you know if theres a way to get a file tree?

Open Nautilus and click View then check the Side Pane box. Then, in the side pane click on where it says Information and has a little drop down arrow, click that and then choose Tree
