MythTV videos (after transcoding) change colors during playback

Just using the default transcoding in MythTV, after transcoding, the videos change colors (noticably) while playing back.

In all cases the color goes from normal up to significantly more red over about 20 seconds, and then abruptly jumps back "down" to normal color. It repeats this every 20 seconds or so.

Has anyone had any problems like this?

Boy, that sounds just like "Macrovision" copy proection as originally implemented on VHS tapes.

I certainly wouldn't say Macrovision is your problem, but the symptoms you describe are so similar it's like deja vue from 20 years ago! With that old Macrovision, the picture cycled from normal to very dark, which gave it a pronounced reddish hue.
