MythTV Configuration Issues - cannot login to database

I can't seem to get MythTV to work on my PC. I compiled MySQL and its other dependencies, then compiled MythTV, and all that worked just fine, then I tried to follow the instructions here: http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/User_Manu...l_Installation to get it up and running. However, no matter what I try to do with the MySQL database, I keep getting the error "Cannot login to database?" when running any MythTV program (frontend, backend, filldatabase). Can anyone help me with this problem?

Did you add the mythtv user and password to the database?

Also, your /etc/mythtv/mysql.txt file should look like this:
Code:
DBHostName=localhost
DBUserName=mythtv
DBName=mythconverg
DBPassword=mythtv

Steps I took:

Compile MySQL
Set MySQL Admin Password
Compile MythTV/Plugins/Themes
Add User mythtv
su mythtv
mysql -u root -p < mythtv.sql
Run Mythbackend (fail)
Write mysql.txt according to that link you sent me (which i found on my own)
Run Mythbackend (fail)
Fiddle with database repeatedly, fail repeatedly
Post here.

Before running mythbackend, I think you need to run mythtv-setup.

Just out of curiosity, what distro are you using? There may be some precompiled packages that could ease your install.
