MythTV claims all my inputs are in use. None actually are

I have ivtv working flawlessly (ditch the rpm distros, that was the trick). I installed mythtv and everything appears ok, with one exception. Every time I attempt to watch tv in mythtv it tells me all available inputs are being used for recording, but I go to the recording section and nothing is being recorded. The cat /dev/video0 > test.mpg works flawlessly from the command line. What did I miss? Googling for hours found nothing.. :-(

Any MythTV experts out there?

If you are already recording one programme in the slot then you can't record another. You need as many tuner cards as you want to record simultanaeously.

Check the backend log - it may already be recording something. In a similar fastion you can't watch tv and record at the same time if you have got only one tuner card.

Thanks for the reply. The point was that I wasn't actually recording anything, or watching tv when this error would arrise. As it turns out it was a permissions problem with the backend server. You have to make sure that the user mythtv has rights to use /dev/videox. Once I corrected the permissions, I finally had a perfectly working MythTV Debian Powerhouse!. Woohoo. And now on to my other unicorn...Acidrip..
