mysqldump stops

I get mysqldump (fedora 3) work until it founds this error:
/usr/bin/mysqldump: Got error: 1033: Incorrect information in file: './mysql/help_category.frm' when using LOCK TABLES
This is first mysql database installed itself.
There are a lot of tables in mysql database that display the same error msg when I try to see their structure with phpMyAdmin.
How may I fix this?
Thank you.
mysql 3.23

Thanks, I had done "check, repair, analize, etc." from phpMyAdmin and always the same error msg.
I am on a dedicated remote server. I remember first time, when folks at hosting company, had installed php-mysql I had a lot of problems with mysql.
I suspect they had installed another version of mysql than I was using 3.23
I've just downloaded a XP version of 3.23, installed and verified that all tables (9) help* and time* were not as default tables at "mysql" database.
So I droped all those tables I suppose were not deleted that time. I know I have not to work with this database but...
I also mysql_install_db and no changes (deleted tables were not added again)happend
Thank you.
