mysql.sock file missing

did u install a new server? rpm or source? did u run
'mysql_install_db'?

what mysql_install_db command use for?is it use when upgrade the mysql?My mysql.sock missing after i change the permission to other owner and chmod to 760,b4 that is ok but after i reboot the mysql.sock missing.Is it any way to recover back?Thanks

u don´t need mysql_install_db to upgrade
i would try to change back ownership and restart the server but maybe someone else knows better. (probably mysql should be owner of mysql.sock file?)
