Question mysql permission

I have 2 system with me.
win 2k and redhat 7.3

I wrote a small mysql database. in the redhat system
but when i try to execute it from win2k remotely. i recieve permission denied message > 1130: Host '192.168.0.117' is not allowed to connect to this MySQL server

what's wrong..
there is a firewall but is located outside of the lan
i check the ipchains nothing related to the ip above.

you should install phpmyadmin on your redhat... with that installed, you will be able to set all your permission correctly and with ease.

check it before you check all your firewall settings

log in as root to your mysql
selct database u want to play with
'grant usage for username@192.168.x.x.identified by 'urpasswd';
grant everything what u want to this user
i dont know exactly but i guess u have to add
ur remote host to the host table in mysql db.
the mysql db registers users, privileges, allowed hosts ..
good luck,
jens
