mysql looking for some file
hello
i installed mysql on my box, but i am having a problem, which i do not know how to solve. when I try to start the mysql daemon, it complains about not finding the file mysql.host (the file is not on my drive) and exits. i dont know how to create that file. is it something that should be created automatically on startup? thank your for any kind of input :-)) bye raven |

I posted a reply about mysql. I have a problem with
/usr/libexec/mysqld: Can't find file: './mysql/host.frm' (errno: 13) look at my post on 2/10/02 |
Did you run:
Code:
mysql_install_db |
yes I did run mysql_install_db! thank you!
the problem was solved Just got it running under Redhat 7.2 best to install EVERYTHING when installing Redhat mysql was installed when I did an update to Redhat 7.1 login as root Start server via: /usr/bin/mysql_install_db /usr/bin/safe_mysqld --user=root & Start client via: mysql enter sql... use mysql; create table yiyi (n1 float); insert into yiyi values (3.14159); select * from yiyi; There are instructions on how to (1) run as a user other than root (2) start automatically on booting Linux enter at the prompt: >locate mysql enter the following into the location slot of netscape for documentation file:/usr/share/doc/mysql-3.23.41/manual.html this works for Redhat 7.2 much more work to be done I logged out as root and logged in as myself and the server was still running and the sql worked! |
