mysql login permissions

Okay, I have installed mysql. So far so good...

Now, I know this is a linux board, so please don't hurt me...to bad...

I have installed on my Windows box a mysql admin gui. I tried to connect to the mysql server on the linux box, but got user username is not allowed to login from x.x.x.x (my ip address).

How can I change the permissions on the mysql server to accept logins from other IPs?

Well, you need to update your user to not only be set locally in the hosts field or column in your tables/db your currently working with or using.

Check out the docs at www.mysql.com as they cover this in their online manual/book, etc.
