MySQL GLib 2.3.4 Error?

Excerpt from ps -A:

Code:
 4585 ? 00:00:00 mysqld_safe
 4598 ? 00:00:00 mysqld
I am thinking this mines mysql server is running. Twice even, maybe.

However, trying to connect to it I get...

Code:
mysql@toothless:/home/user$ mysql
mysql: /lib/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.3.4' not found (required by mysql)
mysql@toothless:/home/user$
How could it be running without this requirement? Am I doing something wrong?
/lib/libc.so.6 exists. Does this mean I need to update it? How would I do this?

Thanks,
TR

If you use RPM based system type 'rpm -q glibc' or
'rpm -q glibc2' and ensure that you have at least
glibc-2.3.4 If you do not you should upgrade it.
In the case you use Debian packages use 'dpkg -s'
instead of 'rpm -q'.

I am sorry I neglected to mention I am running Slackware 10.2.

I will look for a package on linuxpackages.net containing Glib 2.3.4.

Why glib? It seems like you should look for glibc.
