They look interesting, thanks, I'll examine them more closely. Have you tried phpMyAdmin? I've also seen MySQLNavigator and SquirrelSQL (http://www.squirrelsql.org/) mentioned, though I haven't used them.
Have a look at the MySQL Workbench, the successor of MySQL Administrator. There are various packages available for Linux, and also the source code to compile yourself. I recently installed the Windows version and it looks promising.
