mysql at system login prompt

Not sure how to describe this one but whenever I boot my slackware 10 system, it gets to the login prompt and before I can type in a user name, mysql (after it loads) throws a line feed without a carriage return. This causes the prompt to look funny as part of it jumps down to the next line.

I hope I've described this well enough. Any ideas?
