MySQL


I wont to connect remotly to my MySQL server and I dont know what to do...?

You want to do something like this:

# connect to mysql server...
mysql --user=root --password=<root-password>

# you should now be connected to the mysql server...
# the command prompt should change to "mysql>"

# change to the 'mysql' (master) database...

mysql> use mysql;

# create a new user and grant full access to all databases from all IP addresses...

mysql> grant all privileges on *.* to <username>@'%' identified by '<password>' with grant option;

mysql> quit;

The above will add a user called 'remote' who can connect to any table within any database '*.*' from any host '%'.

Remember to remove all the '<>'s from the text above.

also, make sure to check your cnf file, and make sure that
skip-networking is commented out, or it will do just as it says, skip-networking.

If you are interested in a GUI in terface for MySQL You can try using the MySQL Control Centre.

You should also concider phpMyAdmin which also is a web based MySQL administration system.
