Mylex DAC690 - probs installing
 

HELP! trying to install with a SCSI RAID Controller. Setup complains: NO VALID DEVICES FOUND ON WHICH TO CREATE NEW FILESYSTEMS. It picked up the right drivers! ANY suggestions. ASAP please :newbie:

Way back when (RH6.2) I was trying to get an ATA RAID controller working during a fresh install. I had to use text mode and somewhere in there is a way to load other modules.

In short you'll need the modules and a much better asnwer than this one.

IBM makes Mylex, says they have a new solution. Don't know if this helps or not.

i am experiencing similar problem in rh7.2 with dac960 freezing. the install went fine but rebooting and loading up for first time computer froze when it started the dac960 driver. any help would be greatly appreciated. please reply and email drekyon@hotmail.com. thanks.

Yes! The drives of Mylex DAC960 in the RH7.3 installation disk is the same of the Dandelion´s page.
We have tried the following strategies:
1. "Automatic" installation: The installer load the Symbios drive, and hangs during loading dac960 drives;
2. "Expert" installation: When the installer asks for a driver disk, we put a diskette with dac960 drivers. But, occurs the same: Installation of the Symbios drive, and hang when load dac960 driver...

did you ever manage to get the Mylex DAC960 working for you with Linux?
I just bought a second hand Sequent server that has a Mylex DAC960 controller in it, and am experiencing similar results. I have tried installing Fedora Core 1 and Red hat 9, both fail in exactly the same way that you describe.
Has anyone managed to solve this?
