Distro + version?
Window manager +version?
Desktop environment +version?
When does it happen?
Sounds like a hardware issue?
Did you check your ram with memtest?
Did you check the temperature of your CPU/VGA?

more input please..

i will check memtest and CPU/VGA temp it is on a frankinputer lots of old parts thrown together
i did not thik it could be hardware but its a good thought
especially seems how it happens on different distros only on that pc

its happens to me on quite a few distros in the ked desktop environment
on newer versions of both currently on ark 2005.2 rc3 its also happened before on fedora core 3 + others
the only thing I think I normally do when it occurs is possibly hitting a quick key combo like ctrl+a or alt+a in the configure-kde panel or on configure kdesktop

Please do not post the same thread in more than one forum. Picking the most relevant forum and posting it once there makes it easier for other members to help you and keeps the discussion all in one place.
