my resolution/refreshrate

i have a major problem. xfce says i can do 2 resolutions with my xorg set to 70hz and locks me @ 1024x768... kde gives me another story and same for the nvidia driver tool panel. im restricted to 60 hz unless i enable a setting to ignore what the monitors tell the pc.

the question is why am i getting the run around instead of being...

MASTER OF THE KNOWN UNIVERSE

why are these things not inter linked with each other???

Your refresh rate and resolution are determined by your monitor and must have appropriate lines in the xorg.conf to support them.
