Running on PHPBB and unix I believe...Was that your question?

I installed another version on a different domain, with new database and it did the same thing. Although it's the same server........It may be phpbb, I should know shortly.

Hope it's not my PHP configuration

OH, BTW I dig your desktop . do you use tabbed browsing in mozilla? it's great

Damnit.....I was affraid of this. I installed it on my other server running IIS and PHP and it works perfectly with MsSQL 2000. I did the exact same procedure on both. I have no idea what the hell is goin on.

I'd almost bet it's my php installation on the linux server.

Here's a question, what should the permissions be on the html/php folder for any of the domains? I think it may be an issue with permissions. When I install phpbb on my other server it mods the config file on the fly, on the linux server it says the config file cannot be written to because of permissions. I'm wondering if that's the problem here.

that file is only used for the web admin, whereas you need to give apache write access

Well I'm pretty much spent on this. There really is no reason for it not to work outta the box....Really really annoying.

What's even worse, my windows version of php works fine with this. This is the kinda stuff that keeps people away from linux

Do you think it would be advised to just redownload apache and php seperately rather than using what came with RH8?

I'm about to scrap linux and buy another 2k server. THis is really really really frustrating.

I completely removed all of the rpms redhat installed for PHP and HTTPD.

I then downloaded the latest apache tar along with the PHP most current tar they recommend for version 2 of apache.

I unzipped and compiled EXACTLY how they say to do it for PHP and apache.

Apache is running with PHP as a module, and it's doing the same damn thing on the phpbb as it did last time.

I throw it on windows and it works fine.....any ideas?

THe good folks at phpBB are aware of the problem

Basically the code will not work with Apache 2x

I don't know if it's the fault of phpBB, PHP, or Apache, who knows.

Just put on Apache 1.3x and it works great.

Dave, thanks again for the help. I was so involved in my new issue I haven't had a chance to post the problem. If you ask me, I think it's PHPBB problem. They write the header information in the pages, and to me if that doesn't work it's kinda their fault in a way. They COULD make it work if they wanted.

Here is a solution to fix it, I hope someone will read this post and see the solution one day. It took me a while to get it working.

Here is the solution
