How many, or what kind of, music players are out there? The only ones I have tried, or heard mentioned, are Kaffeine and Amarok, neither of which I like. (I thought Amarok's interface was bizarre. Obviously I couldn't figure out how to use it, because it was refusing to play any of the music on my HD, for no obvious reason.) What I'd really like is one that is as close as legally possible to being a clone of the Windows Media Player, because I may hate Windows, but I like some individual apps (esp. Notepad and Media Player) because they just work; they do everything I want.

XMMS is good...

as for media player...look into MPlayer. i use it to watch dvd's and stuff...it also plays music, but i prefer XMMS for music.

notepad...gedit or kedit both work great...
