Question music player for Gentoo/GNOME

Hey guys, I'm kind of new to both Gentoo and this forum, and I'm looking for a good program to play music (MP3, I don't care about audio CD) and streams for me. I'm sorry if this has been posted a million times already, but I'm having a really hard time finding any results. Maybe my google skills aren't what they used to be.

I've tried a few music players already. First I tried XMMS. I used to use this in Redhat back when I had that, but I'm just sick of it now. It seems like all xlib programs are butt-ugly and don't work well. This is kind of a last resort for me. Next, I tried to get RhythmBox. However, it seems to be masked on the Gentoo portage tree, because a lot of its dependencies don't work well apparently. If anyone has any notes on installing RhythmBox on Gentoo, they would be appreciated. Third, I tried Zinf. This seems to be another xlib application and it segfaulted as soon as I added my music, so I unmerged that one right away.

Does anyone have some good suggestions besides the three players I just mentioned? Thanks in advance.

You could try XINE, that plays most types of music.

or mplayer (http://www.mplayerhq.hu) which would also solve the problem of playing movies which you will soon face ;-)

To install type at the prompt "emerge mplayer"

Also visit these two sites and take your pick!
