Multi-language spell checking for OpenOffice on Gentoo

Hi there,

I have to write documents in English, German and French in OpenOffice 1.1.4. I would like to have the possibility to check for spelling mistakes in the respective language. While I can format text as a certain language, I cannot spell check it in German or in French, but only in English.

In TOOLS -- OPTIONS -- LANGUAGE SETTINGS - WRITING AIDS I can edit AVAILABLE LANGUAGE MODULES, however German has not the spell checking icon and French is not available at all.

Actually I am not quite sure what exactly is missing. If I try to

LANGUAGES=GER emerge openoffice

the machines tries to emerge the complete openoffice package. Could anybody tell me which packages I have to emerge and what exactly I have to do to be able to spellcheck in different languages?

Many thanks in advance,
Bernhard

Ps: My desktop is Gnome

If there are not the packages you want, you must d/l and install the dictionaries for the languages you want. Take a look here to get the needed software and see how to instal it.

Thanks. I checked that, however I do not find the gentoo packages. The German package igerman98 does not exist (and the links to the openoffice website do not work). When I try to install the French package with

emerge myspell-fo-0.2.1

I receive the following reply:

!!! Problem in null/myspell-fo-0.2.1 dependencies.
!!! "Specific key requires an operator (null/myspell-fo-0.2.1) (try adding an '=')" exceptions

Actually I do not understand what this means (

Any propositions?

Thanks,
B.

For Italian:

export LANGUAGE="39" emerge openoffice
export LINGUAS="it" emerge kde
