Much trouble w/Mplayer

I have spent days trying to install Mplayer through urpmi with no success. "Bad signatures" "missing files". Bad or obsolete mirrors. How can I get this to work? Is there a company that makes a "Mplayer" on a CD? I'm at the end of my rope with this. Help!!!
MDK 9.2. Didn't come with my version, "Discovery" 2 CD set.

I completely agree on that. Installing from source/rpm is always better....
