yes :) we are aware of that. That's why I keep my fingers crossed. ;)
Because I have a lot of friends at MSN, I don't like to idea of Microsoft forcing me to use their operating system + messenger, because I'd like to talk to my friends. (and yes, I really like the idea of jabber)
The MSN Messenger login consist of a handshake, where the client explains what features+protocol version it uses. If you make a client that pretends to be MSN 6 at Microsoft Windows, and supports the features (and secret challenges), you'll get connected anyway. :rolleyes:

The new messengers promised to work with the new msn 5/6 login system, and I'm not receiving those "Messenger upgrade" messages anymore in kmess (cvs version) from messenger@microsoft.com
