Who cares?

I, for one, welcome our new multi-network GAIM overlords.

There's a Unix Y! messenger client available from yahoo, but it's crappy and missing lots of features.

Perhaps time to petition them to update it...

aMSN is AN equivalent, but by no means the only or definitive one.

Others you might like to consider are http://kmess.sf.net and http://mercury.to if you want a like for like MSN replacement, or numerous multi-protocol messengers if you prefer a one-size-fits-all approach to instant messaging.

Presumably anyone who wants to use such a program cares if it's available.

I can't see the point of your post. As far as I can see, all you're saying is that you don't personally use Yahoo! messenger. So what? Your post certainly doesn't add anything to the discussion of what is available.

No, he is saying he prefers having something like gaim, trillian or other IM systems that can handle MSN, Yahoo, AIM, and ICQ all under a single wrapper. Which, assuming you use more than one IM program, having such a program is certainly useful. That way you can be on the same client, not wasting bandwidth, processor, or desktop space, and be chatting with all your Yahoo, MSN, AIM, and ICQ friends at the same time.

No.... yahoo games requires a full browser with java support. It can't be used over ANY aim, Yahoo, or other client. When you play "through" those in windows, all you are really doing is launching a browser, and usually that's it. In some, however you also play via the network, though still using the browser, which seems to be massively daft to me, as just a browser with your buddy joining the same table has an identical effect.

He's talking about the games that are A PART of the windows Yahoo Messenger client, not yahoo games on the yahoo website.
