Mplayer with libmad and alsa
I have both libmad and alsa but it does not detect them
I want to use libmad and alsa with mplayer but right now i am struck with the mpg library and oss emulation of alsa. my version of mplayer is a binary one(rpm) Any thoughts? |
are they not picked up with the ./configure stage? if not then it will presumably not have the developemnt libraries installed for each. you didn't say what distro your on though so i can't tell you how to install them

but i thought that since i have the rpm it should have been configured to include alsa/mad as they are definately better than other alternatives the distro with this problem is rh8.0 though i have not tested it in other distro/s |
well i tested the same mplayer in my debian system it detects the libmad but not alsa
(maybe i miss something) Debian 3.0(2.2.20) and Redhat 8.0(2.4.18-24) In both distros i compiled/installed libmad and alsa later |
well check the config.log and the configure script itself to see WHY it failed
|
well as i said i am using the binary version of mplayer
so how come the config.log /configure script if you were talking about alsa/libmad both are working very fine with other applications(like alsaplayer) and a small program i made incidentally i checked the same mplayer in Mandrake 8.1(Vitamin) (2.4.3-16mdk) without alsa and it detects libmad do you think it is the time to try for mplayer mailing list? |
