Mplayer quirks...

I just wanted to ask a few questions about Mplayer and the GUI (gmplayer).

After adding files to the playlist via the GUI is there any way to easily remove thousands of files from that same playlist without having to click every single file and hit delete? I tried hitting the first file and then going to the last file and while holding shift clicking again but it does not work. Basically, I do not want to click delete for every one of the 2000 files I have in the playlist...any solutions?

I also had a problem trying to randomize the sequence from my playlist. I read the man page but I did not see any options to randomize the playlist.

One last question. I also had a problem playing DVD's with gmplayer. I successfully got the movies to load using the command (if i remember correctly) "mplayer -dvd 1 etc..." but the framerate is slow and mplayer says that my computer is not fast enough to handle the DVD. I have a 1.4 ghz machine with almost nothing running int he background. I wonder if mplayer is trying to decrypt the decss keys on the fly and thats why the video is slow. But I did install libdvdread and libdecss which are required for most dvd reading applications. Let me know what you guys think...
