mplayer problem
Hi y'all
I'm running mplayer0.90 and everytime I play a wmv file, it gives me the error: Could not open required DirectShow codec wmv8ds32.ax where do I get this codec from? The links on the mplayerhq mirror sites aren't that clear. And if I decide to upgrade to a new version of mplayer do I have to uninstall the old one first? If so, how? |
In here 8)
http://www1.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/rel...codecs.tar.bz2 extract 'em to /usr/lib/win32 and recompile the mplayer working finy fine on my box. Just upgrade to the 1.0pre2 uninstall is not needed but you should compile with the same prefix! |

Will this archive have the DirectShow codec then? If so, where do I extract the files to? Sorry to keep asking, because somebody deleted the codec documentation page at: http://www.mplayerhq.hu/DOCS/en/codecs.html |
Try this one: http://www.mplayerhq.hu/DOCS/HTML/en/codecs.html

Is it playing anyways. I compiled mplayer withe all of the codecs in their exrtalite pack but it gave me an error of missing that same codec(I think). It still was playeing , so I do not know if it was needed. I searched on google and found tht codec and recompiled with it. It did not give me that error anymore.

What codec did you download?
|
and where do i extract the codec files to?
|
The first time I compiled mplayer, I downloaded the package called extralite from the mplayer home page. It has most all needed codece. mplayer still complained of a missing windows media codec, so I did a search for the missing codec, found it on google. Like I said in my post, it played windows media files fine even though it said I needed it:scratch:
As to where to put the codecs. After you untar that mplayer package that you get from their homepage, Their is a file called README ,it tells you how to compile it properly. It tells you everything you need to do:) |
