MPlayer not working properly, showing flashes in between

Hi,

I recently upgraded to Fedora Core 7, and installed mplayer using yum. Now, while running movies in mplayer, once in every while there is a flash on the screen for just an instant. The movie runs fine otherwise, and the occurence of these flashes is completely random. Also, when such a flash occurs, rewinding the movie a little bit and then letting it come to that point doesnt generate a flash again.

I have also tried "-vo x11" and "-vo xv" , the problem persists in both of them. Also, it happens in both fullscreen and windowed mode. Running mplayer from command line does not give any errors.

Please let me know what to do to get rid of this problem.

Thanks in advance.

Are you running compiz-fusion ? If yes, try to enable the video playback plugin in the utility section of Compiz Config Setttings manager.
