mplayer not even installing gui?
 

i just set uup mplaayer annd it workss justt fine when i ttype commands fromm the xterm...(actuaally using KDE). but i reinstalled it to include thhe gui (the wholle familiar process...yes ii added thhee opttion --enable-gui) but it nnever even made the sym link gmplayer... ???

i tried to run the mplayer withh a -gui ooption, but that doesnt work, you cant ddo thatt from thhee console. HOW DO I USE THE GUI! I checked in tthe makeffile tthat was generated and ssure enough, the gui stuff is right in tthere ready to compile...and thee ccompile doesnt stop prematurely either (i ddont thiink) aany ideas?

PS...any ideas onn this keyboard? Imm oon a Toshiba lapttop and in X, thee keys are getttinng doubled ALL THE TIME AND ITS PISSING ME OFF. i tried ssome of the keybboard devicesettings and they force me to type tooo slowly...any ideas onn alternnatte driverrs oor sometthing? (tthe ddoubling off keys does NOT happen outside oof X...onlyy after i startx)

if you're using slackware, just go here and get a nice slackified
mplayer package. use pkgtool to install it, then you can run
gmplayer to run the gui and if you're using kde or gnome, an
icon might have been created. good luck.

Its stated right in the install docs.

use --enable-gui in the configure step (I'm guessing you did that when you compiled right?)

and then is says, clear as day in the docs "do not use the mplayer -gui switch as it doesn't work properly, use gmplayer instead" (paraphrased).

it said in my post that gmplayer was NOT created...and it also said that i DID use the enable-gui switch. Let me reiterate. i compiled mplayer WITHOUT the enable gui switch, because i was gonna use a different gui...but i decided that was a stupid thing to do (initially i didnt even know mplayer came with a gui). So after reading the documentation, i reconfigured using the --enable-gui switch, recompiled and reinstalled. after doing that, the gmplayer symlink was NOT PRESENT! i searched far and wide (find / -name gmplayer) and it wasnt found anywhere. I looked in the config file that the config script created, and it did indeed say that i had enabled the gui... so WHAT GIVES! :(
