Mplayer is slow on some video format ... ??

Kinda happens a lot on some *.avi and *.mov files.... I've mixed and matched a lot of video and audio options and the video is still too slow to catch up with my sound....

here's my ~.mplayer/config
Code:
vo = xv
ao = alsa9 #oss #sdl
autosync = 9999
ni = yes
idx = yes
nobps = yes
double = yes
autoq = 2
#hardframedrop = yes
nocache = yes
maybe anyone can help out with this?

btw. I've tried hardframedrop/framedrop, sdl and oss but it didn't work out...
Hdparm too, both my hd's already have dma and 32-bit I/O support on them ...

hmm, I'd like to skip that for awhile maybe there's another solution for that? I have a P3 733, 256 ram, and Geforce4mx card... I've played mpgs, and other avi's ... I noticed some are just too fast or too slow...

I'm still looking for other options for this thing that could work to add to my config file, maybe someone would know?
