MPlayer installation

Hi

I use Suse 10.1 on my pc
I downloaded the latest version of the MPlayer & compiled it.
When I execute the command "gmplayer" on the console
the programe looks for a skin
So i downloaded the skin "Blue" form the MPlayer site
& extracted the folder to the specified location as mentioned on the README..
Still I cannot start the Mplayer...

1) How should i install the skin to get the MPlayer
(gui) mode running?

2) How could I run vcd's & dvd's & mp3 useing the MPlayer
with out the skins installed ?
(I find the man pages very confusing )

Thanks
Cheers

in order to run mplayer gui you should give the ./configure while compiling the flag -enablegui

i am not sure about skins , but about codecs you have to create the folder and put the files into it before compiling , which is not the case in xine for example , but still , mplayer is the best...!

good luck ,

Hi

Well i compiled the mplayer with ./configure --guienable

The compilation was successful, but i put the skins on to the location after the compileation

So how can i get the player to run on the gui mode or the text mode ?

Cheers

text mode just type
Code:
 mplayer <file>
in the terminal, this is how i always do it, i dont like the mplayer GUI.

Personally for mp3s i would use something else that has nice handling for things such as playlists etc.

Try launching MPlayer from a menu. If you are using gnome, Applications > Sound & Video > MPlayer.
