mplayer install
 

mplayer installation. what fonts am i suppose to down load. the directory i am taken from the website has 4 different files to download. do i need them all.

either of them are fine, the last contains all of them i believe. i jsut use the ones in iso-8859-1 (arial 14)

im wondering if someone here has succesfully installed mplayer using gcc version 3.2

gcc - suggested versions are: 2.95.3, 2.95.4 and 3.1. NEVER use 2.96 or 3.0.x!

i didnt relize this until i had already installed mplayer. the reason why i ask is i get no video but i do get sound. i think i unpacked the codecs fonts and skins right. so any answers would be very helpfull. also how do you go about uninstalling something like mplayer. i havent found any documentation about doing this.

Have you downloaded and installed the win32 codecs?

i sure have. i didnt think anyone else was going to respond or i would have updated this post. what is going on is i didnt configure the gui. im having problems configuring the gui now when i try. it says: Error: PNG support required for GUI compilation, please install libpng or libpng-dev packages. no luck trying to find these packages either. there not on redhats site.

this is what it is. source code is at the bottom of the page. downloading and installing doesn't mean that it will solve the problem either. could make for more problems. i might need to downgraded on the compiler. that means something else i will screw up. was hoping someone has installed mplayer with my compiler version 3.2-7.

Since you're running RH, can't you get RPMs and install it that way?
