mplayer in pure console (without X)

Dear all:
under normal user, I can not use mplayer -vo vesa (fbdev x11 etc) file name to open a video file. However I can do it under root account.
Anyone knows?
The error message is something like:
Error opening/initializing video output (-vo) device,

Any solutions?

Septanla

You should probably have a look at the /dev/fb* stuff to see if local users have permissions.
