I just installed mplayer and all required files, including fonts, skin and of course the gui, but when I run the mplayer command I get no GUI. I can run the app in the console, so is this a configuration error on my part?
@scape: try putting a gui into you're mplayer config file (~/.mplayer/config iirc), then it should start up as default with gui even if
you use mplayer. All iirc since I don't use the gui.
Also try searching the bord, this question seems to pop up every other week or so, and you might find additional information on the other replys.
0x0001: there's no actual way to stop the gui loading if that option is set is there? no -nogui flag or anything in the manpage... annoying when you're writing an app such as http://acidrip.thirtythreeandathird.net and a simple system call to mplayer results in the gui version appearing and ballsing everything up. arse.
@acid_kewpie: doesn't acidrip use mencoder to rip? afaik there is no gui when using mencoder. But since I don't use gui and I don't use acidrip I don't really know.
@acid_kewpie: I see your point, and since I don't really use the gui I have no idea how to work around. What does the gui_stop option in slave mode do?
I sadly can't try it out, because I'm at the university currently and i have not gtk installed.
If there is no way to circumvent the gui this might be a worthy addition to mplayer. Maybe someone should suggest it to the mplayer ppl. I'll try around a bit at home, I need to update my mplayer anyways.
