MPlayer: Extracting 1 minute from a movie.

It's quite a simple question really. I've got a movie (avi encoded with lavc) that's about 1 and a half hours long. I want to copy about 3 minutes worth of this into a seperate file, but it's about 1/3rd of the way into the movie. I remember reading something about the endpos attribute for mencoder, and think I'll need to do something with that, but the problem is I don't know exactly where to start and where to stop encoding. How could I find this out?

well load the film and move to the right plcae and then see what the concole output says, it will have the location in seconds, so use that.

mencoder -oac copy -ovc copy -ss start_point -endpos 180
