Mplayer Errors...

before hand:
--I'm sorry if this has been asked before, I have searched along this forum and haven't found an answer specific enough to help me... if you know of a thread, please point it out --

i have installed mplayer, and all of the RPM's that go with it. but, when i launch it, the gui pops up, and closes. i downloaded the tarball win32 codecs for it, but i have clue as to what i'm doing when i install RPM's for this. the kernel gives me the list of following errors after execution:

MPlayer 0.90rc2-RPM-3.1 (C) 2000-2002 Arpad Gereoffy (see
DOCS)

CPUflags: MMX: 1 MMX2: 1 3DNow: 1 3DNow2: 1 SSE: 0 SSE2: 0
Compiled with RUNTIME CPU Detection - warning, it's not optimal! To get best performance, recompile MPlayer with --disable-runtime-cpudetection
Reading config file /etc/mplayer/mplayer.conf

Reading /etc/mplayer/codecs.conf: 49 audio & 125 video codecs

SKIN dir 1: '/root/.mplayer/Skin'
SKIN dir 2: '/usr/share/mplayer/Skin'

any help would be appreciated

You just need to install the default skin (which can be downoaded from the Mplayer download page). Put it in any of the above mentioned directories:
SKIN dir 1: '/root/.mplayer/Skin'
SKIN dir 2: '/usr/share/mplayer/Skin'

Cool

Probably not, you'll want to put them up somewhere like /usr/lib/win32 although that might be incorrect, you may wanna consult the docs on that.

... Here's where mine are:
/usr/lib/win32 (after a locate )

Cool

mmm... sorry to keep bothering, but from root it gives me this list of errors...

vo: couldn't open the X11 display (:0.0)!
MPlayer GUI requires X11!
Reading /root/.mplayer/codecs.conf: can't open '/root/.mplayer/codecs.conf': Permission denied
Reading /etc/mplayer/codecs.conf: 49 audio & 125 video codecs
Usage: mplayer [options] [url|path/]filename

this is odd... it opened and played a movie just 3 minutes ago...
