I have been trying to play a couple of DVDs recently with Mplayer on my computer, however, they don't run because they are encrytped or protected in some way. I get errors in the background telling me about this encryption.

I assume there is a plugin or something to get round this. All the DVDs are legal so I guess it is some sort of protection thing.

I tried googleing for it, but it is a lot easier to explain than to search for. Lots of the results were about copying protected DVDs.

Also, i can't seem to use my mouse in Mplayer when I'm playing DVDs. It works fine in all other programs. I get an error in the backgound telling me that there is no mouse button. Any clues?

You need the libdvdread and libdvdcss I believe. Some distro's don't include libdvdcss by default because they want to cover themselves against lawsuits.
