I am currently using SuSE 9.0 Pro, and I have had a great deal of difficulty getting Mplayer to work on this distro. I have heard others say the same thing, and it has to do with some sort of licensing issues that SuSE chose to deal with by not putting DVD playback support on their OS or something. I am not really sure of all the details, but I know that it is driving me nuts!
But anyway...
I finally got a version installed off of the Packman site that will play MP3s just fine. However, whenever I try to play DVDs, I get the following error message...
"Error opening/initializing the selected video_out (-vo) device."
Is there someone out there who can help me from this point? Does anyone know what this error message means?
perfect is subjective. if you are using x11 output, then in the future you might become aware of a large CPU usage from it... if it's not a prblem, that's fine, but be aware that some outputs will have notably poorer performance than others, despite appearing the same from the outside.
