Mplayer & Sound Issues in Linspire
Hi
Having troubles with MPlayer running in Linspire 5.0.59.
When I try to run a video or radio station that needs MPlayer it tends to hang and not play - although some videos do play ok.
When I check the "My Products" Tab in CNR it shows the following;

Copy didn't work so well but there are 2 points of note from above:
1. mozilla-mplayer is not installed (when I install mplayer is uninstalls mozilla-mplayer and vice versa)
2. mplayer is not actually listed as installed. Only MPlayer Plugin, MPlayer Skins and MPlayer Essential Codes. I have tried to download MPlayer, the icon spins but nothing changes.
Is MPlayer a seperate software program to MPlayer Plugin? If so why is it not installing from CNR? If not do I need to download anything else to make it work?
A possibly related problem is that my sound drivers do not load upon boot. They used to but I have downloaded something that has stopped this happening. I suspect aRts but can't see how to unistall it. Does anyone know how to uninstall aRts? Would doing so be likely to help? I get my sound working by running alsoconf but this has to be done every time I boot the computer.
Any help much appreciated.
