Mplayer and encrypted dvds

I have Ubuntu 6.10 and I have installed libdvdcss2 but I still can't get mplayer to play dvds. here is the output:
Code:
Playing dvd://1.
libdvdread: Using libdvdcss version 1.2.9 for DVD access
Reading disc structure, please wait...
There are 19 titles on this DVD.
There are 18 chapters in this DVD title.
There are 1 angles in this DVD title.
libdvdread: Invalid title IFO (VTS_01_0.IFO).
Cannot open the IFO file for DVD title 1.
File not found: '1'
Failed to open dvd://1

Exiting... (End of file)
I've tried reinstalling mplayer after installing libdvdcss but it still gives me the same error. Anybody know how to get around this?

It will play non-encrypted DVDs just fine. I'm using mplayer as a slave for another program so I need mplayer to work. This has to be a common problem that someone has gotten solved. Anybody have experience in this?
