That one was as root. This one , as normal user..... warning: mplayer-0.90-fr2.src.rpm: V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID e42d547b
error: cannot write to %sourcedir /usr/src/redhat/SOURCES

Have no idea, what these things mean. Thanks for any help.

I would suggest not to install using any sort of RPM, install from source, tar.gz or bz2 and you'll be much better off. Not sure why if would not detect the user, especially if your logged in as user "dude" if that's a valid user on your system or even root for that matter.

No, dude is not a user or root on my box. Thats what was getting me thinking. But , I will take your advice about installing from source. Already tried installing from an rpm, with no avail.... Will try installing from source. Thanks , for your input.

Well it seems like you have succeded on the first attempt, it just threw some warnings, hungarian developers probably had a crack with a dude username that's all. And I'd back tricky's suggestion to install from sources.

well that's not a hungarian rpm, that's a FreshRPM file, which is not official and shouldn't be used. while source is a safe bet, using the RPM's from mplqyerhq.hu instead of third party versions is a much better idea.
